Fuel Rates Continue To Rise On October 6; Brent Crude Above $80/ bl
Petrol and diesel prices have again been hiked on Wednesday (October 6, 2021). As per Indian Oil Corporation, petrol rates in Delhi after an hike by 30 paise is retailing at 102.94 per litre today, while diesel is being sold at Rs. 91.42 per litre after an hike of 35 paise.

In Mumbai, fuel rates are the highest amongst the 4 metro cities. Post the hike today, petrol price in the country's financial capital is at Rs. 108.96 per litre and diesel is priced at 99.17 per litre. Fuel rates vary across states owing to the variation in implication of local taxes.

State-run oil marketing companies including BPCL, HPCL and IOC began revising fuel rates on a daily basis on September 24 after international crude rates hit close to a 3-year high.
Internationally, oil prices surged for the fifth consecutive day today to its highest since the year 2014 owing to energy supply concerns globally amid tight supply of crude, coal and natural gas markets. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil surged to $79.18 per barrel, its highest price since November, 2014. Brent crude benchmark on the other hand with gains of 0.15 percent gained to $82.68/barrel.
