State-run oil marketing companies including BPCL, HPCL and IOC began revising fuel rates on a daily basis on September 24 after international crude rates hit close to a 3-year high. Notably, now the crude prices internationally have hit 7-year high and fuel rates in the country have been kept unchanged after 7 consecutive days of hike.

You can now fuel rates in your city by an SMS. As per the website of Indian oil, you would need to type RSP together with your city's code and send the same to the number 9224992249. For codes that are unique to each city, you can check the website of IOCL.

International crude rates

WTI crude futures dropped towards $82 a barrel on Wednesday, down almost 3% from Tuesday's seven-year closing high after the inventories rose by 4.3 million barrels last week. Nonetheless at some of the places there has been found the highest depletion in inventory and the levels are at their lowest since 2018. Since the last week of August on sharp recovery in demand for the commodity, the US oil benchmark has been on a steady rise.
