LNG carrier Energy Fidelity departs US Sabine Pass to support GAIL India supply chain

GAIL India Ltd said its LNG carrier Energy Fidelity was flagged off from the US Sabine Pass terminal on 20 April and is sailing to India. The 174,000 cubic metre vessel is designed for efficiency, using air lubrication and specialised propulsion to lower emissions. India’s Consul General in Houston highlighted the India–US energy partnership.

The company said the flag-off took place on April 20 and was led by India’s Consul General in Houston, Texas, D C Manjunath. GAIL described the vessel as part of its plans to strengthen LNG shipping logistics. The company also linked the move to long-term energy supply needs.

Manjunath said the event showed deeper links between the two countries on energy. "This ceremony symbolises the robust and growing India-US energy partnership, a relationship built on the shared priorities of reliability, innovation, and long-term security,\" Manjunath said. GAIL said the ceremony reflected the wider direction of energy cooperation.

Manjunath said the flag-off supported India’s focus on the 3Ts. The 3Ts are Trade, Technology, and Tourism, GAIL said. Manjunath said the alignment showed stronger ties based on trust. Manjunath also pointed to shared goals around energy security.

GAIL LNG carrier Energy Fidelity technology and carbon footprint

GAIL said Energy Fidelity is part of a future-ready shipping portfolio. The company said the ship was engineered for strong operating efficiency. GAIL said it uses advanced air lubrication systems. The carrier also has specialised propulsion technology, meant to reduce its carbon footprint during the trans-oceanic voyage.

A company official linked the ship to India’s wider energy system plans. \"This advanced LNG carrier stands as a testament to Indias growing strength in building a robust, future-ready energy ecosystem,\" the official said. The official said the vessel helps a resilient supply chain. The official added that it supports reliable cleaner fuel flows.

Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and GAIL LNG carrier Energy Fidelity

GAIL said the deployment supported India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. The plan aims to create a world-class and sustainable fleet, the company said. GAIL also said the vision supports India’s shift towards a gas-based economy. The ship’s route from the US is part of that approach.

GAIL said Energy Fidelity was more than a transport asset for LNG. The company said it acted as a key link to domestic growth needs. GAIL said a dedicated logistics corridor helped secure supplies. The company said the goal was to support progress and sustainable economic development in India.
