Garia Puja Celebration:
In Garia puja devotees sacrifice chicken for ritual purposes in Tripuri community. All kokborok speaking tribes and Halam tribes worship their supreme God Baba Garia for prosperity and well-being. Jamatia Tribe have a unique mass celebration of Garia puja at the State level. It is a seven-day festival to honour the deity Baba Garia is held annually on the first day of the Tripuri calendar/Bengali calendar month of Boishakh, as per Wikipedia.
Garia Puja Rituals:
A bamboo pole that symbolizes the Lord Garia, the deity of livestock and wealth, is worshipped with flowers and garland. The main ingredients with which the Garia Puja is conducted are cotton thread, rice, rich, fowl chick, rice beer, wine, earthen pots, eggs and wine. According to the age old tradition, the fowl is sacrificed before the deity and the blood of the fowl is strewn before the Lord to get his blessing.
