Gas cylinder booking has gotten costlier in May 2026, after Indian oil marketing companies announced their biggest ever hike in some of the LPG cylinders. For instance, Indian Oil has hiked 19Kg LPG cylinder prices by Rs 993 to Rs 1,147 across metro cities. This LPG price has crossed Rs 3,000 mark for the first time. Indian Oil has also announced hefty hike on mini LPG cylinder of 5Kg which is currently popular and in demand amidst Middle East crisis. That being said, here's how to book your Indane Gas, Bharat Gas and HP Gas in May 2026.

LPG Prices In India Hike 2026:

For May 2026, OMCs hiked 19Kg LPG prices at the highest rate ever. The biggest hike is in Kolkata by Rs 1,147, effective from May 1, bringing the price to Rs 3,355 per cylinder. While in Chennai, 19Kg LPG price is hiked by Rs 1,013 to Rs 3,259.5. In Mumbai, the hike is by Rs 1,015.5 to Rs 3,046.5. Meanwhile, in Delhi, this LPG is priced at Rs 3,071.5 per cylinder, higher by Rs 993 from April 2026.

Another LPG cylinder that witnessed significant hike is the Chotu or mini LPG in 5Kg gas. As per Indian Oil website, the 5Kg cylinder is priced in different categories. For instance in Mumbai, the price ranges from Rs 339 to as high as Rs 1,757.5 per cylinder.

The price of 5 KG XTRALITE LPG CYL- Filled is Rs 339, while the price of 5 KG FTL (POS) ND CYLINDER at Indian Oil is Rs 1757.5. On the other hand, the price of 5 Kg LPG Cylinder Non Domestic - Filled is at Rs 798 in Mumbai.

LPG Cylinder Booking Rules Of 45-Days & 25-Days:

Since US-Israel-Iran war resulted in an intense energy crisis, the Indian government took various measures to curb the LPG shortage crisis. One of the biggest rules that was changed is the refilling lock-in period. The government increased the booking interval from 21 to 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas and prioritizing sectors for supply.

However, the government has encouraged citizens to book their LPG through online methods. Amidst the Middle East crisis, online LPG cylinder booking increased to 99% on an industry basis. Also, the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) based deliveries have increased to around 94% to prevent diversion. DAC is received on the registered mobile number of the consumer.

How To Book Indane Gas LPG Cylinder?

1. SMS/IVRS Booking: Just like the above two methods, you can send "REFILL" or use the IVRS service at 7718955555 for Indane Gas from your registered mobile number.

2. Missed Call Booking: For Indane, give a missed call to 8454955555 via your registered mobile number to request for a refill.

3. WhatsApp Booking: From your registered mobile number, send a message titled "REFILL" to 7588888824.

4. Online Portal: Place your refill requests via the official portal https://cx.indianoil.in

5. Customer Helpline: Indian Oil's toll-free number is 1800-2333-555 available for feedback and customer support.

6. Emergency Helpline: However, just in case there is a graver emergency regards to LPG such as leakage or safety emergencies, consumers should contact the national LPG emergency number 1906.

How To Book HP Gas LPG Cylinder Online?

1. IVRS Service: You can either dial 88888 23456 from your registered mobile number.

2. Missed Call: Give a missed call on 94936 02222 to order for refill.

3. WhatsApp: Send a quick "Hi" to 92222 01122 on your WhatsApp. Ensure the message is send through registered mobile number.

4. Website: Visit the official website www.myhpgas.in to order for refill.

5. Mobile Apps: You can also opt for refill of your desired HP Gas through applications like UMANG, Amazon Pay, Paytm, PhonePe and other BBPS-enabled apps.

6. Customer Service Centres: The refill can also be done by visiting the nearby CSC centres for assistance.

How To Book Bharat Gas LPG Cylinder Online?

1. IVRS Booking Number: Customers can call 7715012345 or 7718012345 from their registered mobile numbers to request for refill.

2. SMS Booking: Or you can send a message saying 'LPG' to 7715012345 or 7718012345 through your registered mobile number.

3. WhatsApp Booking: To book your LPG through WhatsApp, you have to first save BPCL Smartline number 1800224344 in your contacts. Then type a 'Hi' or 'Book' to this number on your WhatsApp app for initiating the booking.

4. Mobile App: You can also install Bharatgas application from Play Store. Log in the app using your registered mobile number and select the option 'Refill Cylinder' for further process.

5. Other Apps: Apart from BP, you can also book for refill through UMANG app, a government-backed unified app for all gas cylinders.

OTP-Based LPG Cylinder Delivery Mandatory:

After booking your required LPG cylinder, you will receive the confirmation of the order on your registered mobile number. However, during the time of LPG delivery, it is mandatory to provide one-time password (OTP) to the delivery agent or else you will not get your required LPG.

Last month, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas emphasized on the transparency of LPG cylinders delivery. The ministry pointed out that LPG delivery will not be possible if consumers do not share the OTP, a move to secure that the gas cylinders do not fall into the wrong hands.

Also, OMCs have emphasized on OTP-based delivery as priority to avoid mishandling of LPG cylinders and ensure transparency.
