Gas Cylinder Booking Helpline Numbers For Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, HP Gas: More Hikes In LPG Prices Soon?
LPG cylinder prices have increased significantly for May 2026, due to the intensifying situation in the West Asian war. From May 1st, 19 kg LPG prices witnessed the biggest hike ever by Rs 993 to Rs 1,147 across metro cities. However, now reports are claiming that oil marketing companies may hike the domestic commercial LPG cylinders of 14.2kg in the coming days.
It needs to be noted that a 14.2 Kg LPG cylinder is the most used cooking gas by Indian households. While 19 KG gas cylinders are widely used by restaurants, eateries, and other industrial purposes. Apart from the 19 kg cylinder price, Indian Oil also raised the price of the 5 Kg FTL (Free trade LPG), referred as Chhotu, by Rs 261 for May 2026. Sales for 5Kg cylinders have been scaled up since Middle East conflict for migrants, students and others.

14.2Kg LPG Cylinder Prices To Be Hiked?
Petrol and diesel prices may increase by around Rs 4-5 per litre, while domestic LPG cylinders could see a hike of about Rs 40-50. If approved, this would be the first increase in petrol and diesel prices in nearly four years, with retail rates largely frozen since 2022, as per a report by India Today.
It needs to be noted that 14.2Kg cylinder prices are kept unchanged for second consecutive month. On March 7, 2026, OMCs hiked this LPG price by Rs 60 across metro cities, which was for the first time since April 2025.
Currently, 14.2kg LPG price continues to be at Rs 913 per cylinder in Delhi, at Rs 939 in Kolkata, at Rs 912.5 in Mumbai and Rs 928.5 in Chennai.
What will be the fate of 14.2Kg LPG cylinder prices in May will be keenly watched. However, it needs to be noted that there is no government confirmation or statement regarding hiking the price of domestic commercial cylinders. GoodReturns could not confirm the same.
As per the latest update by the government, online LPG cylinder bookings increased to 99% on industry basis. Meanwhile, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) based deliveries have increased to around 94% to prevent diversion. DAC is received on the registered mobile number of the consumer.
Also, total commercial LPG allocation has been increased to about 70% of pre-crisis levels, including 10% reform-linked allocation. Data of ministry revealed that since April 2026, a total of 2,05,849 MT (Equivalent to more than 108.34 Lakh of 19 Kg LPG Cylinders) of Commercial LPG has been sold.
