Gas Cylinder Booking Methods From July 1: How to Book Indane, Bharat Gas Hp After New LPG Rules Kicks In

From July 1, 2026, many important changes related to LPG connections, gas cylinder bookings, eKYC, and PNG migration are going to come into effect and are expected to impact millions of households across India.

Gas Cylinder Booking

The Centre has introduced new measures to manage LPG distribution, preventing duplicate domestic gas connections, and encouraging consumers in piped gas-enabled areas to switch from LPG to PNG.

The new gas cylinder rules will affect customers of all three major public sector oil marketing companies, Indane (Indian Oil), Bharat Gas (BPCL), and HP Gas (HPCL).

What is Changing From July 1st & Reason Behind it

After the geopolitical tensions in West Asia triggered by the Israel-Iran conflict earlier this year, the government is now making efforts to reduce dependence on LPG cylinder supply chains by promoting PNG in cities where the facility is already available.

In March 2026, households covered by PNG networks were asked to switch from LPG cylinders to piped natural gas within three months.

The biggest change under the new regulations is the implementation of the "One Household, One Gas Connection" policy. Underwhich, households can no longer maintain both an LPG and a PNG connection simultaneously.

Consumers who obtain a PNG connection are required to surrender their existing Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas LPG connection within 30 days of PNG activation.

Those who continue using both connections may find one of the connections suspended after June 30, although no official nationwide deadline has been separately announced beyond the amended regulation.

The government had earlier revised the minimum refill booking interval for domestic LPG cylinders. The revised lock-in period currently stands at 25 days for urban consumers and 45 days for rural consumers Earlier, customers could book the next refill after 21 days.

Consumers who have already completed Aadhaar authentication do not need to undergo the process again.
