The government has continued to take various steps for ensuring the availability of LPG cylinders amidst the supply shortage crisis due to the West Asia war. After changing booking rules for LPG for consumers and promoting PNG connections, the government has made new decisions, one that will benefit many key sectors. This time, the government released a new formula with increased allocation of LPG for non-bulk domestic consumers.
New LPG Formula:

As per Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, a major decision was taken on 8 April to further ease supply of LPG to industrial segments by allocating 70% of fuel demand to non-domestic bulk consumers with supply prioritised for key sectors such as pharma, food, polymers, agriculture, packaging, paints, steel, defence-related materials, etc.
The ministry highlighted that this measure is expected to prevent supply-chain disruptions, avoid shortages of essential goods and ensure continuity of industrial operations despite the ongoing global crisis.
Which LPG Connection Non-Bulk Domestic Consumers USE?
The non-bulk domestic consumers do not use the smaller versions such as 5kg, 10Kg or 14.2Kg LPG cylinders as they are generally used by Indian households or domestic consumers.
Non-bulk domestic consumers are companies, industries and big facilities which require much bigger and stronger LPG cylinders. In Indane Gas, which is sell by largest OMC Indian Oil, it would be Indane XTRATEJ.
The Indane XTRATEJ is generally higher in weightage and content. They are in 19 Kg, 47.5 Kg and 425 kg. Hence, their prices are also higher compared to domestic LPG cylinders.
According to Indian Oil, Indane XTRATEJ is an additized LPG used in various commercial and industrial applications. It is enhanced with additives developed through cutting-edge Nano technology at IndianOil's R&D Centre. Indane XTRATEJ has been developed for industrial and commercial purposes only and not for domestic use.
How To Book Indane XTRATEJ LPG Cylinders?
As per the website, Indian Oil has stated that XTRATEJ is currently available in selective districts. Though, the company does plans to make it available across the country. For any queries including booking, you can call on toll-free number 18002333555.
LPG Cylinder Prices Hiked April 2026:
For April 2026, following the Middle East crisis, Indian Oil hiked rates of 19Kg LPG Cylinders for the third time in less than a month. For April 2026, the biggest hike was in cities like Kolkata and Chennai, while LPG prices were raised by at least Rs 196 per cylinder in Mumbai and Delhi.
In Kolkata, this gas cylinder price saw the most increase by Rs 218 for April 2026. Further, the LPG price is increased by Rs 203 in Chennai. However, LPG in Mumbai and Delhi witnessed Rs 196 and Rs 195.5 per cylinder hike.
It needs to be noted that 19 kg LPG prices recorded a third consecutive hike in just 1 month. Following the US-Israel and Iran war, 19kg LPG prices were hiked by Rs 114.5 per cylinder on March 7, which came after the prices were already increased by Rs 28 to Rs 31 on March 1, 2026.
LPG Gas Cylinder Rules For 45-Days & 25-Days
Last month, the government has already implemented several rationalization measures on both the supply and demand side, including enhancing refinery production, increasing the booking interval from 21 to 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas and prioritizing sectors for supply.
According to Raksha Mantri's latest update, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is being actively promoted wherever feasible. Owing to the increased awareness from the PNG connection campaign launched to reduce LPG dependence, 3.16 lakh new PNG connections were added, representing a three fold increase over March 2025 levels. The campaign has also resulted in the surrender of 16,700+ LPG connections by citizens, indicating a growing shift toward PNG adoption.
