Gas Cylinder Booking Rules: No OTP, No LPG Cylinder! How To Get Your Indane, Bharat Gas, HP Gas LPG Refill?

India's priority to ensure LPG allocation remains at full scale due to the West Asian war. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said in her latest update that a regular supply of LPG cylinders has been ensured to domestic consumers and there have been no reports of dry-outs.

She assured that LPG supply is completely normal now. However, she pointed out that LPG delivery will not be possible if consumers do not share the OTP, a move to secure that the gas cylinders do not fall into the wrong hands. Meanwhile, Indian Oil, the largest LPG services provider, has urged people to not panic.

LPG Cylinders Supply Normal:

As per Sharma, a regular supply of LPG cylinders has been ensured for domestic consumers, and at present, the domestic LPG supply is completely normal. No reports of gas shortages (dry-outs) have been recorded at any distributor. The status of online bookings has also reached nearly 99%.

She added that, "Furthermore, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), keeping the current situation in mind, have set minimum stock thresholds for each region, ranging between 85% and 90%. Any bypass of DAC (Distribution Approval Clearance) above this level requires approval only from state head or territory-level officers."

LPG Gas Cylinder OTP-Based Delivery:

Along with Sharma, OMCs have emphasized on OTP-based delivery as priority to avoid mishandling of LPG cylinders and ensure transparency.

As per Sharma, to prevent diversion, an OTP-based LPG delivery system has been implemented. In this process, the OTP is sent only to the consumer's registered mobile number. Therefore, if the consumer does not share this code with anyone else, it remains secure and cannot be accessed by any other individual.
