There is yet another buzz surrounding LPG gas cylinder booking. This time many reports claimed that the government has revised the LPG booking period to 35 days. However, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas debunked such claims and called it misinformation. Earlier, the government revised LPG rules with 45-day and 25-day lock-in periods before purchasing another cylinder. The LPG shortage in March has pushed LPG prices higher across cylinders, owing to the Middle East war, which has impacted global oil and gas supply.
LPG Gas Cylinder Booking Rules To 35 Days?

This is fake news! The ministry said on Wednesday, "It has come to the notice of the Government that certain news reports and social media posts are claiming revised LPG refill booking timelines-45 days for PMUY connections, 25 days for non-PMUY single bottle connections, and 35 days for non-PMUY double bottle connections."
The ministry said, "It is clarified that no such changes have been made."
"Citizens are advised not to believe or circulate such misinformation and to avoid unnecessary or panic booking of LPG refills," the Centre added.
But LPG gas rules of 45 days and 25 days stays intact.
LPG Cylinder Booking 45-Days Rule:
To tackle hoarding and black marketing of LPG across the country, the government modified the lock-in period for LPG refill. Before LPG crisis, the lock-in period to order for gas cylinder was 21 days. But now, there are two types of lock-in period and the longest is of 45 days.
The 45-days lock-in period is meant for rural householders to ensure equitable distribution. Hence, if you reside in rural areas of the country, you can only book for another LPG after 45 days from the date of buying the current LPG.
Notably, PSU Oil Companies are promoting digital bookings and discouraging panic bookings, with improved adoption of online booking systems.
LPG Cylinder Booking 25-Days Rule:
For households in urban areas, the booking intervals are revised to 25-days.
But the government has advised commercial LPG consumers in urban areas to switch to PNG, while establishments such as hotels, restaurants, hospitals and hostels can obtain PNG connections from authorised City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities.
