Gas Cylinder E-KYC New Rule: LPG Aadhaar E-KYC Deadline Extended; Check New Date For Indane, HP, Bharat Gas
A host of new rules have been declared in regard to Indane Gas, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas. One of which is a new deadline for LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication from the earlier September 7th date. The reason is to give one more week's window for LPG users to complete the e-KYC process, as lakhs of the customers were pending. However, the good news is that the majority of customers have completed their e-KYC process right from Indian Oil, HPCL, and BPCL to avoid difficulties in their LPG services.

The new deadline for e-KYC is September 14th, which is another one-week's extension from the earlier deadline of September 7th. This will be the fifth extension in the e-KYC deadline. Prior to September, the earlier deadlines were August 16, August 23 and August 31st.
Confirming the one-week extension, a senior official in one of the three oil marketing companies (OMCs) said about 88% of Telangana's 1.26 crore LPG consumers have completed the process, ensuring continued access to refills at domestic rate, as per The Hindu report.
However, the report also revealed that the rate at which LPG cylinders will be supplied to customers who failed to complete their e-KYC is yet to be decided by the government. The focus is currently on achieving maximum compliance.
But sources also revealed to The Hindu that the e-KYC initiative to ensure refills reach only those intended is unlikely to achieve 100% coverage. Many of those yet to comply are believed to be in possession of either multiple connections in their name or use connections registered in someone else's name.
Earlier, reports had stated that if the e-KYC deadline is missed, LPG customers may face temporary suspension of their connection or will be liable to pay commercial rates for their LPGs. There is no clarity on this buzz. What is so far known is that if LPG e-KYC is not completed, there will be a temporary impact on Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas customers until the process is fully complied with.
In another development, the Oil Ministry has directed oil marketing companies to change the LPG booking interval rule from 45 days to 25 days for rural area customers. While the 25-day LPG refill for urban area customers remain unchanged.
