LPG Gas Cylinder Prices Hiked From Sept 1: 19 Kg Cylinder Up Rs 9.50-11.50; 14.2 Kg Unchanged; City-Wise Rates

The oil marketing companies have increased the commercial LPG prices for the first time in September 2026, after two consecutive monthly cuts. The 19 Kg LPG, which is popularly meant for commercial use, is now hiked by Rs 9.50 to Rs 11.50 across major cities in India. The highest hike came in cities like Kolkata, followed by cities like Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, and Patna. Meanwhile, in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Noida, Chandigarh, and Lucknow, the hike stood at Rs 9.50 per 19 Kg cylinder. On the other hand, the domestic 14.2 Kg LPG prices remain unchanged for the third consecutive month.

19 Kg Commercial LPG Prices In India

In Delhi, 19 Kg LPG price is hiked by Rs 9.50 to Rs 2,747.50 per cylinder with effect from September 1, 2026. Further, in Mumbai, the LPG price surged by Rs 9.50 to Rs 2,701 per cylinder. In Chennai, the LPG price increased by Rs 10.50 to Rs 2,916.50.

But the highest hike came in Kolkata to the tune of Rs 11.50 to Rs 2,884 per cylinder for September 2026. Notably, in cities like Thiruvananthapuram, and Bangalore, 19 Kg LPG rate is increased by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,784 and Rs 2,831 respectively.

Furthermore, LPG price is increased by Rs 11 each in cities like Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad to Rs 2,919 and Rs 2,996. Notably, LPG is still above Rs 3,000 mark in Patna to Rs 3,029 per cylinder after giving a Rs 11 hike for September. This makes LPG most expensive in Patna.

In other cities like Gurgaon, Noida, Chandigarh and Lucknow, LPG prices are increased by Rs 9.50 each to Rs 2,764.50, Rs 2,747.50, and Rs 2,769.50 per cylinder. Lastly, in Jaipur, 19 Kg LPG is up by Rs 10.50 to Rs 2,776 per cylinder.

The latest hikes comes after OMCs trimmed 19 Kg LPG prices in July and August 2026. One of the key component that OMCs consider in deciding the LPG prices is movement in international crude oil prices. Both US WTI and Brent crude oil prices in global market are elevated at above $86 per barrel and near $91 per barrel currently. In August month, crude oil prices surged by 8-9%.

Also, the US-Iran conflict has intensified, keeping the situation at Strait of Hormuz uncertain and fatal for global oil and gas supply.

As per Trading Economics, US forces targeted two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island, while Tehran responded with attacks on the UAE and Jordan, marking a resumption of hostilities between the US and Iran after roughly a month of relative calm. President Donald Trump also extended military threats to Kharg Island, Iran's key oil export hub. Meanwhile, oil shipments continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, with major Gulf producers including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq still exporting some volumes. However, a supertanker caught fire in the strait after hitting two naval mines, underscoring the persistent risks facing Hormuz shipping. Elsewhere, refinery strikes in Russia have further tightened global refining capacity, driving refined-product margins to fresh highs.

14. 2 Kg LPG Prices In India

The domestic LPG prices are kept the same as previous month. Accordingly, in September 2026, 14.2 Kg LPG prices will continue to be at Rs 942 in Delhi, at Rs 968 in Kolkata, at Rs 941.50 in Mumbai and at Rs 957.50 per cylinder in Chennai. The domestic LPG cylinder is most expensive in Patna to Rs 1,031.50 per cylinder. The cheapest 14.2 Kg LPG is available in Noida at Rs 944.50 per cylinder.

LPG Cylinders Category

The 5 kg and 14.2 kg cylinders are largely meant for domestic use and comprise almost 90% of all gas distributed,, while the 19 kg, 47.5 kg and 425 kg Jumbo cylinders are marketed for industrial and commercial consumption. The recently launched 5 kg and 10 kg cylinders made of fiber composite with a trendy and translucent look are the latest addition to the domestic category, as per Indian Oil.
