Gems, Jewellery Exports Demand Surge in April: GJEPC
According to the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council GJEPC, demand for gems and jewellery has recovered in major export markets, with overall shipments of gems and jewellery increasing to Rs 25,226.11 crore year on year in April 2021.
In April 2020, when India and major export markets were undergoing lockdowns to combat the spread of COVID-19, total gems and jewellery exports totaled Rs 273.41 crore.
Overall Exports of Gems, Jewellery
Gems and Jewellery gross exports totaled US$ 3369.65 million (Rs. 25226.11 crores) in April 2021, compared to US$ 36.11 million (Rs. 273.41 crores) in the same month the previous year.
Overall Imports Gems, Jewellery
In the month of APR 2021, total gross imports of Gems & Jewellery were US$ 2192.86 million (Rs. 16315.58 crores), up from US$ 9.08 million (Rs. 69.26 crores) the previous year.

In the month of APR 2021, total gross imports of Gems & Jewellery were US$ 2192.86 million (Rs. 16315.58 crores), up from US$ 9.08 million (Rs. 69.26 crores) the previous year.
Provisional gross export of plain gold jewellery at US$ 282.48 million (Rs. 2099.40 crores) for the period APR 2021, up from US$ 0.06 million (Rs. 0.46 crores) the previous year.
