Get Free FASTag at Toll Plazas till March 1: NHAI
The National Highway Authority of India announced the 'Free FASTag' campaign until 1 March 2021, by waiving the tag cost of Rs100 to encourage the adoption of FASTag by highway users.
The National Highway Authority of India announced the 'Free FASTag' campaign until 1 March 2021, by waiving the tag cost of Rs100 to encourage the adoption of FASTag by highway users.
It waived off the tag cost of Rs 100 at over 770 toll plazas (including State Plazas) across the country. NHAI has successfully moved to 100% cashless tolling at National Highways Fee Plazas around the country.
Currently, the overall coverage of FASTag has reached around 87%, a rise of 7%in just two days, with over 100 toll plazas reaching around 90% penetration.
With almost 60 lakh transactions, FASTag's annual toll revenue reached the highest ever Rs. 95 crores mark on 17 February 2021.
Several member banks and NHAI/IHMCL have developed more than 40,000 points of sale for FASTag. FASTag's online purchases are also accessible on various e-commerce websites.
In order to give highway users ease to keep track of FASTag balance, a new 'Check Balance Status' feature has been introduced to the Mobile App 'My FASTag App.' The "My FASTag App" displays the status of the wallet balance FASTag in the form of colour codes, i.e. Green, Orange/Amber and Red codes, depending on the balance of the credit.
NHAI decided to abolish the required threshold limit for the FASTag wallet in order to maximize the FASTag penetration. If the FASTag wallet balance is non-negative, users will now be able to proceed through the toll plaza.
With a record selling of over 2.5 lakhs tags for the last two consecutive days, the rollout of 100 percent cashless tolling was favourably received by the highway users, the NHAI said.
