Global Investors Summit in Madhya Pradesh to Highlight Urban Development and Smart Cities

Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for the Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Bhopal, focusing on urban development. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the summit, starting on February 24, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state is becoming a leader in urban transformation with smart cities and robust infrastructure, integrating strategic investments and sustainable development.

Urban Development and Infrastructure

The state is rapidly expanding its infrastructure, with ongoing urban projects worth Rs 72,000 crore and future ventures valued at Rs 88,000 crore. Madhya Pradesh boasts seven smart cities, world-class connectivity, and progressive urban policies. These factors position it as an attractive destination for investors and developers seeking superior infrastructure.

Yadav highlighted the state's commitment to increasing investment in urban development to achieve PM Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047. He assured that modern facilities would be available to citizens in urban areas, creating employment opportunities. The state has already constructed 8.32 lakh houses and plans for 10 lakh new homes worth Rs 50,000 crore are underway.

Smart City Mission and Sustainability

Madhya Pradesh is a top performer under the Smart City Mission and ranks among the top two states in the Swachh Bharat Survey 2023. Indore has been recognised as India's cleanest city for the seventh time, while Bhopal is the cleanest state capital. The state's cities will gain a unique identity with improved connectivity and digital advancements.

The state aims to achieve 100% piped water supply coverage in urban areas by 2027 and has developed 6,000 km of urban roads to enhance mobility. Additionally, it targets 100% sewer coverage by 2030. These efforts contribute to making Madhya Pradesh a key hub for urban development.

Investment Opportunities and Policies

Investment opportunities in the urban sector include Rs 50,000 crore in the Housing for All project, Rs 17,230 crore in essential facilities, and Rs 32,400 crore in real estate development. The MP Re-Densification Policy 2022 and MP Redevelopment Policy 2022 promote modern infrastructure and redevelopment.

The MP TDR Rules, 2018 optimise land use for sustainable urban development. The EV Policy 2025 encourages electric mobility with infrastructure incentives. The Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Policy 2019 supports high-density growth around transit hubs.

Transportation Network and Connectivity

Madhya Pradesh offers a seamless transportation network with a 5-lakh-km road network, 46 national highways, 20 major railway junctions, and six operational airports. Upcoming multi-modal logistics parks in Indore and Jabalpur will boost trade and connectivity. The state provides integrated municipal infrastructure with remote sensing and AI-based governance to support GIS.

Madhya Pradesh's focus on urban development through strategic investments and policies positions it as an emerging leader in India's urban transformation journey. With ongoing projects and future plans, the state aims to provide modern facilities while creating employment opportunities for its citizens.
