Meanwhile, US gold prices surged on Monday as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's latest statement boosted prospects of an interest rate cut in September. 22 carat gold prices today stood at Rs 66,950/10 grams and 100 grams of 22 carat yellow metal prices today remained unchanged at Rs 6,69,500. 24K gold price today remained steady at Rs 73,040/10 grams and 100 grams of 24 carat precious metal prices today are retailing at Rs 7,30,400.

18k gold prices today remained unchanged at Rs 54,780/10 grams and 100 grams of 18 carat yellow metal prices today stood at Rs 5,47,800 in India on Monday.

Spot Gold, Spot Silver Prices Today: Spot gold surged 0.2% to $2,516.09 per ounce by 0027 GMT. US gold futures rallied 0.2% to $2,551.30. Spot silver surged 0.3% to $29.90 per ounce, platinum remained steady at $962.65 and palladium declined 0.3% to $959.43, according to Reuters.

According to a Reuters report, gold demand in India during the upcoming festive season is expected to remain strong after decline in import duty made prices attractive, providing comfort to retail consumers and encouraging purchases, industry officials said.

"The primary beneficiaries of the reduced duty cut will be retail consumers," said Sachin Jain, CEO of the World Gold Council's Indian operations.
