Gold Prices Today, August 21: Check 24K, 22K, 18K Gold Prices In Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai

Gold rates in India climbed up to Rs 12,100 on August 21, 2026, as the global bullion market witnessed its third weekly gain. 24 carat gold prices jumped above Rs 12,000, while 22 carat and 18 carat gold rates zoomed up to Rs 9,000 to Rs 11,000. The 10 grams of gold price crossed the Rs 1.60 lakh mark. Gold is rising despite elevated crude oil prices and a rebound in treasury yields. The main reason is the decline in the US dollar, which is below the 99 mark, and that shifted investors' focus towards non-yielding assets like gold. Apart from this, improving sentiments in gold demand and continued purchase from central banks supported the prices.

"Rising oil prices from impending Iranian sanctions heightened inflation fears. Coupled with a weakening dollar index near 98.8, investors shifted capital toward safe-haven metals supported by robust investment demand and continued central bank purchases, particularly from China and Global ETFs inflow in the month of July alongside strong central bank buying," said Pinky Yadav, Commodity Fundamental Analyst at Choice Broking.

Gold Rates In India Today

24 carat gold price surged by Rs 12,100 in 100 grams to Rs 16,04,800 and rose by Rs 1,210 to Rs 1,60,480 in 10 grams. Here, 8 grams gold is up by Rs 968 to Rs 1,28,384 and 1 gram gold is higher by Rs 121 to Rs 16,048.

Further, 22 carat gold rates soared by Rs 11,000 in 100 grams to Rs 14.71 lakh and up by Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,47,100 in 10 grams. Also, 8 grams gold is higher by Rs 880 to Rs 1,17,680 and 1 gram gold is up by Rs 110 to Rs 14,710.

Under 18 carat, 10 grams gold advanced by Rs 900 to Rs 1,20,360 and 100 grams jumped by Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,03,600. Also, 8 grams gold is up by Rs 720 to Rs 96,288 and 1 gram gold inched up by Rs 90 to Rs 12,036.

What Is Impacting Gold Prices In India?

The precious metals have found support primarily due to a weaker US dollar following the liquidity infusion through US bond purchases, while gold remained resilient despite rising crude prices and continued uncertainty around the US-Iran situation, as per Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.

However, the analyst also explained that the momentum remains positive as long as bullion sustains above key support levels, though the sharp move may invite profit booking at higher levels.
