Domestic gold rates kicked off the week on a strong note, reversing last week's brief decline and climbing higher on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal urging households to postpone discretionary purchases such as gold in order to conserve foreign exchange and reduce pressure on the economy.

Safe-haven demand remained firm as investors closely tracked developments in diplomatic talks between the United States (US) and Iran, which continued to influence global commodity markets.
In Delhi, the price of gold rose by Rs 54 to Rs 15,413 per gram for 24 Karat (24K) on May 12, while 22 Karat (22K) gold increased by Rs 50 to Rs 14,130 per gram. Over the past two trading sessions, gold prices have surged by Rs 16,300 per 100 grams for 24K gold.

Silver prices also staged a notable breakout after remaining largely unchanged for the previous three days. In Delhi, silver advanced by Rs 15 per gram to Rs 290 per gram on May 12, taking the price of one kilogram of silver to Rs 2,90,000, up by Rs 15,000.

The price of 24K gold rose by Rs 54 to Rs 15,413 per gram, compared with Rs 15,359 yesterday. Accordingly, 8 grams now cost Rs 1,23,304, 10 grams are priced at Rs 1,54,130, and 100 grams cost Rs 15,41,300, up Rs 5,400 in a single day.
22 Karat Gold Rate Today in Delhi
22K gold increased by Rs 50 to Rs 14,130 per gram from Rs 14,080 on May 11. The price of 8 grams stands at Rs 1,13,040, while 10 grams cost Rs 1,41,300. The price of 100 grams has climbed to Rs 14,13,000, marking a daily gain of Rs 5,000.
18 Karat Gold Rate Today in Delhi
18K gold also edged higher by Rs 41 to Rs 11,564 per gram, compared with Rs 11,523 yesterday. Eight grams are now priced at Rs 92,512, 10 grams at Rs 1,15,640, and 100 grams at Rs 11,56,400, reflecting an increase of Rs 4,100 over the previous session.

Silver prices in Delhi jumped sharply on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after staying flat for the previous three days. Silver is now priced at Rs 290 per gram, up Rs 15 from Rs 275 yesterday. The price of 8 grams has increased to Rs 2,320 from Rs 2,200, while 10 grams now cost Rs 2,900 compared with Rs 2,750 on May 11.
For larger quantities, 100 grams of silver are priced at Rs 29,000, up Rs 1,500 from Rs 27,500. The price of 1 kilogram has surged by Rs 15,000 to Rs 2,90,000, compared with Rs 2,75,000 a day earlier.
