Gold rates in India slipped again on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after a mild gain in the previous session, as investors reacted to the US Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates and its signal that further monetary policy tightening could follow. The earlier rally in global oil prices also lost momentum, adding to pressure on gold.

Gold, Silver Rates Under Pressure After Fed Decision

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, 24 Karat (24K) gold is priced at Rs 15,284 per gram, down Rs 60, while 22 Karat (22K) gold stands at Rs 14,010 per gram, lower by Rs 55. 18 Karat (18K) gold is priced at Rs 11,463 per gram, down Rs 45. Meanwhile, silver prices remained steady at Rs 245 per gram or Rs 2,45,000 per kilogram.

24 Karat Gold Rate Today in India

The rate of 24 Karat gold has fallen to Rs 15,284 per gram, marking a daily decline of Rs 60. Buyers looking at larger quantities will pay Rs 1,22,272 for 8 grams, Rs 1,52,840 for 10 grams and Rs 15,28,400 for 100 grams. Compared with the previous day, these quantities are cheaper by Rs 480, Rs 600 and Rs 6,000, respectively.

22 Karat Gold Rate Today in India

At Rs 14,010 per gram, 22 Karat gold is trading Rs 55 lower than the previous session. The rate works out to Rs 1,12,080 for 8 grams and Rs 1,40,100 for 10 grams, while 100 grams costs Rs 14,01,000. The corresponding day-on-day reductions stand at Rs 440, Rs 550 and Rs 5,500.

18 Karat Gold Rate Today in India

The 18 Karat gold rate has eased to Rs 11,463 per gram, down Rs 45 from yesterday. For 8 grams, the price is Rs 91,704, while buyers would need to pay Rs 1,14,630 for 10 grams and Rs 11,46,300 for 100 grams. The rates for these quantities have declined by Rs 360, Rs 450 and Rs 4,500, respectively.

Silver prices remained unchanged across all major quantities in India on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The price of silver is Rs 245 per gram, unchanged from yesterday.

For larger quantities, 8 grams of silver costs Rs 1,960, while 10 grams is priced at Rs 2,450. The price of 100 grams stands at Rs 24,500, with no change from the previous day's rate. For bulk purchases, 1 kilogram of silver is priced at Rs 2,45,000, also unchanged from yesterday.

"With a hike largely priced in, focus turns to the Fed's dot plot and Chair Kevin Warsh's comments on oil and inflation. Technically, gold has support at $4,275, resistance at $4,430-4,500; silver's Head and Shoulders pattern puts neckline support at $62.5," said Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., President of India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd.
