Gold Rates In Chennai vs Bangalore vs Hyderabad: Rs 25,600 Crash Today, 24K, 22K, 18K Gold Prices On 28/9/2026

Gold rates in India crashed by more than Rs 25,000 in 100 grams in 24-carat on September 28, 2026. In some cities, the crash neared Rs 26,000. The reason is the weakness in global bullion demand as spot gold reached its lowest levels in seven weeks below $4,200. This came after US-Iran negotiations once again stalled, pushing crude oil prices and treasury yields higher and keeping inflationary pressures heightened. The concern of a rate hike from the RBI in the month of October has also escalated.

In southern cities of India, gold prices recorded steep declines ahead of festive month. Gold rates in Chennai dropped by Rs 25,600 in 100 grams and down Rs 2,560 in 10 grams, which is the highest single-day plunge among other cities. Meanwhile, gold rates in Bangalore and Hyderabad dropped by Rs 25,100 in 100 grams and down by Rs 2,510 in 10 grams.

What Is Impacting Gold Prices In India?

As per Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities, gold traded weak with strong selling pressure, falling around $130 to $4,155, as dollar strength and higher US Treasury yields weighed on bullion. The US 10-year yield moving above 5.22% is increasing expectations of a higher-for-longer interest-rate cycle, raising the opportunity cost of holding gold. Strong demand for bonds is also reflecting a shift towards yield-bearing safe-haven assets. COMEX Gold range can be seen between $4,080-$4,250.
