Gold rates and silver rates in India witnessed a mixed trend on Thursday morning. MCX gold gained marginally by 0.4% to trade above Rs 1.49 lakh per 10 grams, while MCX silver traded volatile but held Rs 2.27 lakh per 1Kg mark. At MCX, zinc, natural gas, and copper traded under pressure. While MCX crude oil rose by nearly 1%.
The performance is due to a pull back in global precious metals. Both spot gold and silver prices corrected marginally from their weekly highs and traded under pressure. Earlier, spot gold surged nearly 1% and reclaimed $4,300 per ounce mark, while spot silver gained as well to trade near $63 per ounce pivotal level. MCX gold and silver are expected to follow the trend.
The international bullion market has recorded four consecutive sessions upside as a deal between US and Iran is likely taking place to partially reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which pushed crude oil prices lower.
Currently, US WTI crude oil price traded above $75 per barrel and Brent Crude traded near $80 per barrel. The trend was volatile.
Iran and Oman reached an agreement on a shipping corridor through the strait, boosting expectations of increased energy flows from the Middle East. Markets scaled back expectations for Federal Reserve interest rate hikes this year, now pricing in just one increase by year-end, compared with two as recently as last week. Meanwhile, ADP data showed the US economy added only 44,000 private-sector jobs in July, the weakest reading since January and well below forecasts for 70,000. Elsewhere, Fed Governor Lisa Cook reiterated on Wednesday that she remains prepared to raise rates if inflation fails to cool, warning that the central bank may not have the luxury of waiting before bringing inflation back to its 2% target, as per Trading Economics.

Live Gold Silver Rates Today: What Is Fueling Precious Metals?
The rally was supported by renewed optimism surrounding US-Iran negotiations, although market participants remain cautious as the final outcome will depend on official confirmation and statements from Iran. Until a formal agreement is reached, geopolitical uncertainty is likely to keep a risk premium embedded in bullion prices. Going forward, the market's focus shifts to the US ADP Employment Change data, followed by the Non-Farm Payrolls and Unemployment Rate, which will be key indicators for the Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook. These releases are expected to drive the next major move in gold. Technically, MCX Gold is expected to trade in the ₹1,44,000–1,47,500 range over the near term: Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.
