Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (1.9.2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Falls As Rate Hike Fear Spikes, Silver Erases Gains

Gold rates and silver rates in India are volatile on September 1, 2026. The MCX gold price traded marginally lower to struggle around Rs 1,54,100 per 10 grams. On the other hand, the MCX silver price zoomed by nearly Rs 3,700 to trade near Rs 2,40,500 per kg. This is due to the cautious tone witnessed in the global bullion market.

Currently, spot gold traded lower towards $4,430 per ounce, and spot silver moves in a narrow range but holds above $66.50 per ounce. Amidst this, crude oil prices surged sharply and remained elevated. US WTI crude and Brent crude are up 1% each to hold above $86.71 per barrel and $91.2 per barrel.

That said, precious metals are hovering near a two-week low. The sentiment soured after US Federal Reserve's chair, Kevin Warsh, gave hawkish remarks in the Jackson Hole meeting last week. This has brought back the fear of rate hike in September due to sticky inflation.

Oil prices advanced for a second straight session after US forces struck an island in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran responded with attacks on the UAE and Jordan. Higher energy costs stoked inflation concerns, strengthening the case for a near-term Fed rate increase, which is typically negative for bullion. Meanwhile, Chair Warsh said the Fed would "have work to do" without clearer evidence that inflation is moving back toward its 2% target. Markets are now pricing in a more than 65% chance of a September hike, up from around 36% before his remarks. Despite the recent decline, gold still gained about 10% in August after the US Treasury announced plans to double liquidity-support buybacks of longer-dated bonds, reviving the so-called debasement trade, as per Trading Economics.
