Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (15/10/2026): Spot Gold, Silver Price Jump 1% As Oil Prices Halt 5-Days Rally
Gold rates and silver rates in India are likely to be volatile after US CPI inflation came in higher than expected to 3.7%. However, the buying trend was witnessed in the global bullion market after crude oil prices halted their 5-days gaining spree, which might lift domestic precious metals.
Spot gold is up by 1% to trade above $4,140 per ounce, while spot silver surged by 1% to trade above $56 per ounce. On the other hand, crude oil prices plunged by 1-2%, with US WTI Crude oil trading near $94 per barrel and Brent Crude holding a little over $104 per barrel.

However, US inflation came in at 3.7% in September 2026, higher than the street estimate of 3.6% and above 3.4% of the previous month. The reason was the higher energy prices, with gasoline rising by 34.2% YoY and fuel oil prices surging by 74.2%. The elevated inflationary pressure brings back the possibility of aggressive rate hikes from US Federal Reserve.
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee described the figures as "discouraging" and cautioned that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure could also be overheating the economy. Meanwhile, San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly indicated that the central bank may need to raise short-term interest rates further, although she saw no immediate need for a rate hike at this month's meeting, as per Trading Economics.
