Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (16/10/2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Price Up Rs 1,000, Silver Price Jumps Rs 2,500

Gold rates and silver rates in India traded higher on Friday, October 16, 2026, as MCX gold price reclaimed above Rs 1.48 lakh per 10 grams mark and MCX silver surged over Rs 2.13 lakh per 1Kg mark. Market participants continue to evaluate the Federal Reserve's monetary policy outlook after stronger-than-expected US CPI inflation data that has heightened the possibility of a rate hike ahead. However, the market predicts that the probability is 72% that the Fed will keep rates unchanged in the upcoming policy this month, but the odds of a rate hike in December have reached 92%.

Spot gold is currently trading cautiously up to above $4,170 per ounce and spot silver outperforms with 1% upside to trade above $57 per ounce. The performance can also be attributed to decline in crude oil prices by 0.5-1% with US WTI crude oil trading near $97 per barrel and Brent crude near $105 per barrel.

The shift toward safer investments pushed bond yields sharply lower, easing pressure on non-yielding assets. Investors also weighed heightened geopolitical risks in the Middle East amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, while a Singapore-flagged container ship was sunk in the Strait of Hormuz this week by an Iranian projectile, as per Trading Economics.

Going ahead, US Fed chair, Kevin Warsh's speech and the Fed's month-end policy decision will play a major role in influencing the dollar, interest-rate expectations and bullion prices.
