The MCX gold touched an intraday high of Rs 1,56,155 per 10 grams in the early trade but corrected significantly and traded near Rs 1.55 lakh mark. Meanwhile, MCX silver price touched an intraday high of near Rs 2,38,500 per 1Kg, but corrected as well to trade around Rs 2,37,500 per 1Kg. This indicates investors are cautiously bullish.

On the other hand, crude oil prices corrected but stayed elevated. US WTI crude is volatile but above $82 per barrel and Brent crude is marginally up and near $89 per barrel. Natural gas price plunged by 2.5%, while gasoline prices have also corrected.
Data released last week pointed to tame US inflation, while consumer sentiment and retail sales weakened. Markets now see roughly a one-in-three chance of a Fed rate hike in September, down from nearly 50% before the data. Investors are now awaiting the FOMC's latest meeting minutes and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole symposium for further guidance. Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East remain elevated after Israel launched fresh strikes on Lebanon over the weekend, while President Donald Trump is preparing new economic sanctions aimed at forcing Iran to surrender. Still, Middle Eastern producers are covertly moving millions of barrels of crude through the Strait of Hormuz, keeping oil prices in check and easing concerns about inflationary risks, as per Trading Economics.
