Gold rates and silver rates in India are likely to perform higher on September 18, 2026, as global bullion demand improves due to a fall in crude oil prices. In the early hours of Friday, spot gold surged marginally to trade above $4,346 per ounce, and spot silver gained by nearly 1% to trade near $66 per ounce.

On the other hand, crude oil prices traded lower by 1% but still remained above $100 mark. ThE US WTI crude futures dropped 1% to trade around $101 per barrel and Brent crude declined by 1% to trade around $104 per barrel. Natural gas and gasoline slipped by 1-2%.

Meanwhile, the US 10-year treasury yield slipped to $4.95% on Thursday, pulling away from the 5.04% which was at its highest level since 2007.

The precious metals have gained momentum despite US Federal Reserve hiking interest rates by 25 basis points for the first time in 3 years, to 3.75% and 4% owing to rising inflation and the energy crisis.

Investors continued to assess the outlook for Federal Reserve monetary policy following its first rate hike in three years. The US central bank signalled that additional tightening could be needed to contain inflationary pressures, with markets now pricing in roughly a 53% probability of a move in October, as per Trading Economics.
