Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (19/08/2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Below Rs 1.54 Lakh, Silver Price Crashes Rs 3,800
Gold rates and silver rates in India crashed significantly on August 19, tracking weak global trends in global bullion market. MCX gold is trading below Rs 1.54 lakh per 10 grams mark, while MCX silver price crashed harder to trade below Rs 2.29 lakh per 1Kg level. This is because spot gold dropped below $4,350 per ounce and spot silver struggled around $62.8 per ounce.
Rising treasury yields and elevated crude oil prices have impacted precious metals. The 30-year Treasury Yield in the USA is at 19-year high, while sovereign yields have surged to multi-decade highs. Meanwhile, US WTI crude and Brent Crude extended their gains to trade around 485.5 per barrel and $91.5 per barrel.

The precious metal also faced pressure from rising oil prices as the US and Iran showed little indication of reaching an agreement to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz in the near term. President Donald Trump said there were no ongoing talks with Tehran, while Iranian forces have intensified attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Investors now await minutes from the Federal Reserve's July meeting and remarks from Chairman Kevin Warsh at the annual Jackson Hole symposium for fresh clues on the monetary policy outlook, as per Trading Economics.
