Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (2.9.2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Crashes Rs 1,700, Silver Price Plunges Rs 3,500

Gold rates and silver rates in India crashed sharply on September 2, 2026, tracking weak trends in global bullion market. The MCX gold price plunged over 1% to struggle around Rs 1.50 lakh mark, while the MCX silver crashed 1.44% to trade around Rs 2.32 lakh per 1 Kg mark.

Meanwhile, both spot gold and spot silver traded lower by 1% each to $4,300 and $63 per ounce. This is the fourth consecutive fall recorded in precious metals, pushing them to their lowest levels in three weeks. The reason is the rising crude oil prices and treasury yields after US Federal Reserve's chair Kevin Warsh gave hawkish remarks last week, which raised the probability of rate hike.

Market is now factoring a 70% chance of rate hike this month.

Global bond yields climbed amid mounting inflationary pressures and growing expectations of imminent rate hikes, with US Treasury yields reversing the decline triggered by Secretary Scott Bessent's announcement of an expanded buyback program. Attention now turns to the ADP employment report due Wednesday and Friday's nonfarm payrolls for further clues on the Fed's policy path. Meanwhile, oil prices extended gains amid escalating hostilities between the US and Iran, further heightening inflation risks, as per Trading Economics.

The 10-year US treasury yield climbed further to 4.8% in the early hours of Wednesday, which is highest level since October 2023. Further, the 30-year treasury yield also rose to 5.28%. Additionally, crude oil prices extended their rally. At present, US WTI crude and Brent crude rose by nearly 1% each to trade near $91 per barrel and $96 per barrel.
