Gold & Silver Rates Today (23 April, 2026) Live: MCX Gold Price Below Rs 1.52 Lakh, Silver Crashes By Rs 8,500

Gold rates and silver rates in India crashed sharply on Thursday, April 23, with MCX silver price falling nearly nearly 3.5% in the closing bell of day time session. MCX gold erased its Rs 1.52 lakh mark and dropped by nearly Rs 1,000. Also, MCX silver crashed by Rs 8,500 to fall below Rs 2.40 lakh mark. Both the precious metals will resume trading in the evening session after 5:30 pm today.

This follows the selling pressure in international bullion market as uncertainty in Middle East heightened. The ongoing blockade of Strait of Hormuz, has escalated the fears of energy crisis and inflationary pressure.

Tehran has maintained control over the waterway, restricting nearly all international traffic and reportedly firing on commercial vessels this week. The US has also upheld its blockade of Iranian ports to intensify pressure on the Islamic Republic, a move Tehran has condemned as a breach of the ceasefire. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said the current truce would remain in place indefinitely as Washington awaits a new peace proposal from Iran, as per Trading Economics.

Spot gold falls by 1% to struggle around $4,700 per ounce, while spot silver price dropped by 2% to trade around $76.2 per barrel.

On the other hand, crude oil prices jumped with Brent Crude crossing 103 mark in per barrel. US WTI Crude oil is hovering closer to $95 mark.
