Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (249/2026) LIVE: Spot Gold Below $4,280, Silver Falls 1% As Dollar Hits 101

Gold rates and silver rates in India are likely to be under pressure on Thursday due to weak demand in the global bullion market. In the early hours of September 24th, spot gold traded down by 0.22% to below $4,280 per ounce and spot silver underperformed with a 1% decline to trade around $63.8 per ounce.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, US WTI crude oil futures traded lower by 0.4% to near $92 per barrel and Brent crude oil futures tumbled nearly 1% to hold around $102 per barrel.

This came after the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in his speech at the UN General Assembly made it clear that Iran will not bow to threats and will not give up their right to build nuclear technology for economic development. He also threatened that the Islamic Republic will not allow freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as long as sanctions and a US blockade continue to be in-place.

Further, the US 10-year Treasury Yield traded around 5.11%, which is still near its highest level since July 2007. Not just that US dollar reached 101 mark, hovering at its highest level in almost two months as stronger-than-expected economic data heightened inflation concerns and reinforced expectations for further policy tightening.

Those moves came as stronger-than-expected US private-sector data heightened inflation concerns and strengthened expectations for further Federal Reserve rate hikes. Several Fed officials have also reiterated support for last week's rate increase while warning about persistent inflation risks. Markets are now pricing in around a 70% chance of another Fed rate hike in October, up from 55% a day earlier. At the same time, oil prices rebounded as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian maintained a firm stance, saying Tehran would not allow freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz while sanctions and a US blockade remain in place. Higher oil prices add to inflationary pressures, reinforcing expectations for a more hawkish interest-rate outlook, as per Trading Economics.
