Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (25-08-2026) LIVE: Spot Gold Falls But Still Above $4,600, Silver Drops 1%

Gold rates and silver rates in India are likely to trade cautiously on August 25, 2026, as the global bullion market records a correction. In the early trade of Tuesday, spot gold traded marginally lower but held near $4,650 per ounce, while spot silver dropped over 1% to trade around $68 per ounce. Despite the latest mild correction, gold and silver are at their highest level in 3 months.

The US Treasury Department announced an expansion of its buyback program for long-dated government debt last week in an effort to contain rising borrowing costs, with Secretary Scott Bessent saying he is prepared to increase the buybacks further while also flagging an upcoming longer-term fiscal plan. However, markets speculated that the measures may offer only a temporary solution while renewing concerns over the risks of a US debt crisis, persistent inflation, and dollar weakness. Gold-backed exchange-traded funds have also recorded increased inflows in recent weeks, signaling broader market participation and strengthening investment demand, as per Trading Economics.

On the other hand, crude oil prices surged on Tuesday. Brent crude is up by 1% to trade near $93 per barrel, while US WTI crude soared 1% to trade near $86 per barrel. Also, the 10-year US Treasury yield remains steady around 4.7%, while the 30-year yield surged to 5.2%, which is the highest level since 2007.

Gold and silver also faced selling pressure as the US dollar regained some upside momentum and is trading near 99 mark against a basket of currencies.
