Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (27/08/2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Holds Rs 1.60 Lakh Mark, Silver Price Up Rs 1,000

Gold rates and silver rates in India traded higher on August 27, with MCX gold price holding above Rs 1.60 lakh mark with marginal gains. Meanwhile, MCX silver surged nearly Rs 1,000 to hold above Rs 2.40 lakh mark after hitting near Rs 2.43 lakh intraday high. The trajectory for precious metals is cautious and volatile.

In the early trade of Thursday, spot gold surged 1% to trade at $4,630 per ounce and spot silver outperformed with 2% gains to trade above $69 per ounce. This is due to a sharp correction in crude oil prices.

Brent crude and US WTI crude oil have plunged 1% each to trade around $87.25 per barrel and $81.70 per barrel.

Notably, precious metals gained despite the latest US PCE prices index rising above expectations by 0.1% to 3.7% in July 2026, which continues to remain above Fed's target, signaling bullish trajectory for interest rates.

Investors now turn to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the annual Jackson Hole symposium on Friday, although he is not expected to offer clear guidance on the central bank's September policy decision. Meanwhile, gold hovered near its highest level in three months as the so-called debasement trade continued to provide support, with investors hedging against risks of a US debt crisis and a weaker dollar. Elsewhere, China's net gold imports through Hong Kong rose around 11% month-over-month in July, supported by stronger investment demand, as per Trading Economics.

Among other commodities, natural gas price extends its rally to gain by 2%, while gasoline futures crashed nearly 2%.

Furthermore, the 10-year US treasury yield surged for second session in a row to 4.66% after the PCE index data. Also, 30-year US Treasury bond surged to above 5.2%, the highest since 2007. Also, the US dollar index stayed firmer at 99, after gains in the previous session.

MCX gold price has reclaimed above Rs 1.60 lakh mark after it ended at Rs 1,59,663 per 10 grams in the previous session. The 10 grams bullion is currently marginally up by Rs 486 to trade at Rs 1,60,149 per 10 grams, after hitting an intraday high of Rs 1,60,898 per 10 grams in the opening bell of Thursday.

Live Silver Rates Today: MCX Silver Recovers To Hit Above Rs 2.40 Lakh Mark

MCX silver price regained momentum after falling sharply below Rs 2.40 lakh mark in the previous session. On Thursday, MCX silver jumped at least by Rs 1,000 to trade around Rs 2,40,625 per 1Kg. In the opening bell of August 27, silver touched an intraday high of Rs 2,42,999 per 1Kg.
