Gold & Silver Rates Today (5.8.2026) LIVE: MCX Gold Above Rs 1.45 Lakh, Silver Up 1% After RBI Pauses On Rates

Gold rates and silver rates in India soared sharply on Wednesday amidst RBI's policy outcomes and positive global cues. MCX gold price surged nearly 1% to trade above Rs 1.45 lakh mark, while MCX silver price zoomed by over 1% as well to climb over Rs 2.24 lakh mark. Both precious metals are trading at their day's highs.

Spot gold is steady around $4,100 per ounce, while spot silver surged near $61 per ounce. This is due to a sharp decline in Brent crude to below $79 per barrel after Qatar signaled that US and Iran's peace talks are progressing.

Investors remained cautious while assessing reports of an imminent deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which could ease inflation concerns and lower the likelihood of near-term Federal Reserve interest rate hikes. On Tuesday, Qatar said an interim proposal had been prepared, while both Washington and Tehran signaled progress in negotiations to reopen Hormuz, triggering a sharp decline in oil prices. Markets trimmed expectations for a September Fed rate hike to around 57%, down from 67% a day earlier. Investors are now awaiting a fresh batch of US labor market data for further clues on the Fed's policy outlook, with ADP's July private payrolls report due later today. Meanwhile, gold-backed exchange-traded funds in China continued to attract inflows as institutional investors maintained support for bullion above the key $4,000-an-ounce level, as per Trading Economics.
