Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today (9/9/2026) LIVE: Mild Fall In MCX Gold, Silver Continues Below Rs 2.40 Lakh

Gold rates and silver rates in India are under pressure on September 9th due to rising crude oil prices. In the opening bell, MCX gold dipped marginally to hit an intraday low of Rs 1,52,101 per 10 grams. While MCX silver price declined to hit an intraday low of Rs 2,39,081 per 1Kg.

Spot gold is currently trading above $4,370 per ounce and spot silver is holding above $66 per ounce. Both the precious metals are up 0.4% each.

This is despite rising crude oil prices. US WTI crude oil zooms 1.5% to trade around $94.4 per barrel, while Brent crude surges 2% to trade above $99.4 per barrel, which is very close to crossing $100 mark. Natural gas prices dipped nearly 1%, while gasoline prices advanced 1%.

Oil prices continued to climb after US forces destroyed five Iranian crude tankers near Kharg Island, the country's main oil export hub, in retaliation for attempted missile attacks on a US warship. Investors also braced for key US inflation readings this week for further signals on the Federal Reserve's next policy move. Markets are currently pricing in roughly a 60% chance of a 25-basis-point rate hike next week. Although gold is widely considered a hedge against inflation, higher interest rates can reduce demand for the non-yielding asset by increasing the appeal of interest-bearing investments. Meanwhile, gold posted strong gains in August, supported by increased investment and hedging demand, along with continued central bank purchases, particularly from China, as per Trading Economics.
