Gold rates surged on Saturday, October 17, 2026, on the celebration of Maha Saptami, which is one of the most important days of Durga Puja. At top jewellers, 1 gram gold price stood above Rs 13,500 in 22-carat, over Rs 14,800 in 24-carat and around Rs 11,100 in 18-carat. Gold prices globally witnessed a buying trend this week due to a pullback in the US dollar and treasury yields. Also, US Federal Reserve's chair Kevin Warsh has not signalled a rate hike in the upcoming policy this month. The market believes the probability is high for Fed to keep rates unchanged and hike by 25 bps in December. Meanwhile, in India, gold demand is high during festival season.

"Gold and silver rebounded on safe-haven buying and short-covering as the Dollar Index eased from an 18-month high and investors shifted focus to a selloff in AI data center stocks," said Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions.

He highlighted that markets still price a 28% chance of a Fed hike this month and 89% for December, after US September PPI jumped 6.3% y/y, the strongest in 3.75 years. Middle East tensions, including a container ship sunk in the Strait of Hormuz, added further safe-haven support.

22-carat gold price stood at Rs 13,575 per 1 gram, at Rs 108,600 per 8 grams, at Rs 135,750 per 10 grams and at Rs 1,357,500 per 100 grams. On October 17th, 22-carat gold has surged by Rs 20 in 1 gram, up by Rs 160 in 8 grams, higher by Rs 200 in 10 grams and climbed by Rs 2,000 in 100 grams.

Meanwhile, 18-carat gold prices stood at Rs 11,107 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,11,070 per 10 grams. Also, 24-carat gold rate stood at Rs 14,809 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,48,090 per 10 grams.

IBJA Gold Rates Today

At IBJA, the 999 purity gold price is at Rs 14,643 per 1 gram, while the 995 purity and 916 purity gold rates stood at Rs 14,584 per 1 gram and at Rs 13,413 per 1 gram. Also, the 750 purity gold rate is at Rs 10,982 per 1 gram and at Rs 8,566 per 1 gram in 585 purity.

Malabar Gold Rates Today

In retail stores of Malabar, 22-carat gold rates are at Rs 13,535 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,35,350 per 10 grams. Here, 24-carat gold rates stood at Rs 14,765 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,47,650 per 10 grams.

The gold rates at Joyalukkas retail stores stood at Rs 13,535 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,35,350 per 10 grams in 22-carat. These rates are applicable in states like Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Odisha.
