"Gold price has resumed gapped down by -1.50% at 150,541 in today's session after a rate hike announcement of Fed Reserve yesterday and signalled further tight policy to aim for the inflation target of 2%. This rise in interest has tended to pressure Gold price by increasing the appeal of the Interest bearing assets," said Aamir Makda, Commodity & Currency Analyst, Technical Research, Choice Broking.
He added that the Bank of England looks set to keep interest rates on hold on Thursday but investors are watching for any hint that surging energy prices could force it to follow the Fed's example. For intraday momentum, key support would be at 150,100 and resistance would be at 151,750 - 152,350 respectively. If price breakout below support level, we may expect further downside momentum in Gold price.
Also, Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money said, precious metals are also trading lower, with gold and silver under pressure from the stronger dollar and higher interest-rate expectations, reducing the appeal of non-yielding assets. The Fed's hawkish stance is strengthening the U.S. dollar and keeping Treasury yields elevated, with potential implications for the rupee and foreign institutional flows into Indian equities.
