Gold rates are witnessing a volatile trend due to uncertainty in Middle East. The US-Iran ceasefire deadline is nearing on May 1, and there is yet to be any mutual agreement between the two countries. Meanwhile, US Navy continues to blockade the Strait of Hormuz for Iranian vessels, and the energy crisis globally persists. Dollar held around 98.6 and Brent Crude stays near 106 per barrel mark. These factors are influencing precious metals across the world including in India. Notably, Silver rates have underperformed gold last week.

22 carat gold rates stood at Rs 141,600 per 10 grams, at Rs 113,280 per 8 grams, at Rs 1,416,000 per 100 grams and at Rs 14,160 per 1 gram.

Meanwhile, 24 carat gold price is at Rs 15,447 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,54,470 per 10 grams. Also, 18 carat gold price is at Rs 11,585 per 1 gram and at Rs 1,15,850 per 10 grams.

What Is Impacting Gold Rates?

As per Kotak Neo report, bullion ended last week lower by 1% with spot gold falling below $4,700 per ounce and spot silver struggling around $75.5 per ounce. This is due to persistent geopolitical tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing U.S.-Iran hostilities, continue to support dollar, while higher oil prices are lifting inflation expectations, reinforcing a hawkish Fed outlook.

Additionally, the analysts added that the U.S. macro data was mixed with jobless claims rose to 214K, slightly above expectations, while Flash PMIs surprised positively, showing resilient economic momentum.
