What Should Investors Do In Gold Ahead?

"Gold and silver futures are attempting to stabilise in India after last week's sharp sell-off, but the recovery remains fragile.Investors are cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve's policy decision. The dollar and expectations around future interest rates are likely to determine the next move in bullion," said Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com.

On the MCX, December gold futures were last reported at Rs 1,43,150 per 10 grams, up 0.05% from the previous close of Rs 1,43,073. The reported trading range was Rs 1,42,086 to Rs 1,43,363. December silver futures stood at Rs 1,95,900 per kg, up 0.05% from the previous close of Rs 1,95,793. Silver traded between Rs 1,92,510 and Rs 1,97,186.

On the global front, spot gold was down 0.1% at $4,013.70 an ounce in early Asian trading on October 27, while US December gold futures fell 0.3% to $4,027.10. Spot silver edged up 0.1% to $53.97 an ounce. A stronger US dollar is limiting gold's recovery as investors await the Federal Reserve's policy decision and fresh US inflation data.

For domestic investors, Subburaj said, gold needs to hold near Rs 1,42,000 per 10 grams, while a sustained move above Rs 1,43,400 would strengthen its near-term outlook. Silver's immediate support lies around Rs 1,92,500 per kg. A move above Rs 1,97,200 would signal improving momentum.

He also added, the current rebound is modest and does not yet confirm a trend reversal. Investors should monitor fresh MCX prices and global cues, avoid chasing short-term moves and keep position sizes measured amid elevated volatility.
