Gold Rates Today (Nov 4, 2026): 24 Carat Gold Hits Rs 1.40 Lakh in Delhi Ahead of Dhanteras; City-Wise Price

Gold rates in India continued to rise for the third day straight as the Dhanteras festival nears, where demand for precious metals is expected to be high. On November 4, 2026, gold climbed by Rs 2,700 in 24-carat, surged by Rs 2,500 in 22-carat and rose by Rs 2,000 in 18-carat. This is despite MCX gold and spot gold trading under pressure as Democrats sweep victory in the US midterm elections. The surge in physical gold rates is driven by domestic factors like festive cheer, support against rate hike predictions, elevated crude oil prices, the energy crisis and dollar-INR movement.

The market is balancing softer energy prices against the prospect of tighter US monetary policy. Investors continue to price in a 78% probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike in December. Higher interest rates and a stronger dollar tend to weigh on gold and silver, as they increase the cost of holding non-yielding assets. US midterm election results and upcoming labour-market data could influence the dollar, bond yields and the Fed's policy outlook, as per Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com.

For Indian investors, Subburaj said, the recovery remains uneven. Gold is slightly weaker in domestic early trading, while silver is holding a modest gain. The rupee-dollar exchange rate and international price movements will determine how these trends carry into the regular MCX session. Investors should avoid reacting to small early-session moves and watch whether prices sustain direction after the market opens.
