Gold Silver Rates Today Crashes: Check Gold & Silver Prices In Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad
Gold rates and silver rates in India have dropped sharply on August 19, tracking the broad-based selloffs in global market. MCX gold is struggling around the Rs 1.54 lakh mark in 10 grams, while the MCX silver price traded around Rs 2.29 lakh per 1Kg level but also emerged as the worst performer of Wednesday. Meanwhile, spot gold and spot silver traded volatilely towards $4,395 per ounce and $65 per ounce, respectively. For precious metals, upcoming Fed minutes that are scheduled today are important for rates' trajectory ahead. Precious metals are under pressure due to rising treasury yields, elevated crude oil prices and uncertain Middle East conflict.

On August 19, 24 carat gold dropped by Rs 9,200 in 100 grams to Rs 15,49,700 and dipped by Rs 920 to Rs 1,54,970 in 10 grams. While 22 carat gold declined by Rs 8,500 in 100 grams to Rs 14,20,500 and tumbled by Rs 850 to Rs 1,42,050 in 10 grams. In case of 18 carat, 10 grams gold slipped by Rs 690 to Rs 1,16,230 and 100 grams gold price collapsed by Rs 6,900 to Rs 11,62,300 respectively.

Meantime, 1Kg silver price plummeted by Rs 5,000 to Rs 2.45 lakh and 100 grams silver dropped by Rs 500 to Rs 24,500. The 10 grams and 8 grams silver are down by Rs 50 and Rs 40 to Rs 2,450 and Rs 1,960 respectively. 1 gram silver is at Rs 245, lower by Rs 5.

"Investors await the Federal Reserve's July meeting minutes and Chairman Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole remarks for monetary policy cues. The US 30-year Treasury yield hit its highest level since 2007, while Japan and European yields reached multi-year highs. The dollar index steadied around 99.6 level after touching more than two-month lows," said Pinky Yadav, Commodity Fundamental Analyst at Choice Broking.
Further, the analyst said, on the geopolitical front. Qatar's foreign ministry spokesman said Qatar hopes to reach an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz while securing a ceasefire. Trump says no talks taking place with Iran, Hormuz blockade remains in force also limits upside in bullion.
