Good Friday 2024 Holiday: Are Banks Open On March 29 In India?

The leading private and public banks of India will remain shut today i.e. March 29 on the occasion of Good Friday, as per the Reserve Bank of India's calendar. As Good Friday is not a national holiday, therefore banks in some of the states will continue to function and remain open.

Which Bank Will Be Closed On Good Friday 2024?

Banks will not carry out their operations and will remain closed in most of the Indian states and Union Territories on March 29, Good Friday. However, it is worth mentioning here that banks in Rajasthan, Tripura, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh will remain open on Good Friday.

Also, it is important to note that the regular branches of the banks will remain closed on the occasion of Good Friday but the online services will continue uninterrupted.

Earlier this year in March, banks remained closed for 14 days due to several regional holidays, public holiday, and on 2nd and 4th Saturdays along with Sundays.

Will Banks Remain Open On March 31, Sunday?

Generally, banks remain closed all across India on March 31, end of financial year but this time banks will remain open as RBI has instructed that all the designated branches of agency banks will have to open on Saturday and Sunday (March 31) due to "special measures for the current financial year."
