While the company has not made any official announcement, reports suggest that these plans now come with enhanced benefits for a limited group of subscribers.

According to TelecomTalk, Vi's Rs. 199 prepaid plan-which typically offers unlimited calling, 2GB of daily data, 300 SMS messages and 28 days of validity-may now include an additional 1GB of data per day for certain users. This would effectively raise the daily data allowance to 3GB, increasing the total data quota to 84GB over the 28-day period.

Similarly, the Rs. 179 prepaid plan is said to have been extended by four extra days of validity, increasing it from 24 days to 28 days. This plan continues to provide unlimited calling and 300 SMS, with 1GB of data, although the data is reportedly not covered under the extended validity period.

These targeted offers come at a time when competition in the prepaid segment is intensifying. Bharti Airtel recently launched a new Rs. 189 prepaid plan offering unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls, making it the cheapest unlimited calling plan in the market. Vi's incremental benefits could be seen as a strategic move to retain customers amid rising competitive pressure.

In a parallel development, Vi recently began rolling out 5G services in Mysuru, Karnataka. The company announced that subscribers with 5G-enabled smartphones in the city can now enjoy unlimited 5G data as part of an introductory offer. Vodafone Idea partnered with Samsung for the 5G rollout and is actively working to enhance network coverage by deploying additional spectrum across Karnataka.
