Google Fitbit Edge Launched: Check Features, Battery Life, Health Tracking Specs And More

Google has announced a new fitness tracker, the Fitbit Edge, which will come with a bigger touchscreen, built-in GPS and many other health-monitoring features to its wearable lineup.

The device is mainly designed for users who want to track workouts, sleep and daily activity and don't want to buy a full smartwatch.

One of the biggest features of the new Fitbit tracker is its replaceable battery, which Google describes as a first for its fitness trackers.

The company claims that it has up to seven days of battery life, although this can change depending on how the device is used.

Google Fitbit Edge Specifications

As per the data available on the company's website, the Fitbit Edge comes with a pill-shaped OLED touchscreen housed in a recycled aluminium case.

Its 1.34-inch display is about 46% larger than the screen on the Fitbit Charge 6, which will give users more space to view workout information and health data.

The tracker supports an always-on display and comes with a physical side button for workout controls and ECG readings. It measures 11.5mm in thickness and weighs 17.7 grams without the strap.

Users can also change the straps according to their preferences.

Google Fitbit Edge Other Features

The new Fitbit tracker includes built-in GPS, an altimeter, an optical heart-rate sensor, an ECG sensor and blood oxygen monitoring. It can also track sleep, skin temperature and recovery-related metrics. The device also offers Google's Health Coach, to get health-tracking information.

Battery life is another top feature. Google claims the Fitbit Edge can last up to seven days on a single charge. With the always-on display enabled, battery life drops to around two days.

The tracker has a 65mAh battery and takes about 90 minutes to fully charge. Google says five minutes of charging can provide roughly a day of use under its stated conditions.

The Google Fitbit Edge is priced at $179.99 in the US. Announced on October 12, it is scheduled to go on sale from October 27, with preorders already open. For the sale in India no confirmed or launch date has been announced.
