Google is celebrating its 28th birthday on September 27, and it has already launched a doodle that has gone viral. On this date in the year 1998, two Stanford University students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, found the world's largest search engine. The name Google is a misspelling of Googol, which is the large number 10 100, or ten to the power of one hundred. Ahead of its birthday, Google launched a series of offers on its smartphone, Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5.

This year, Google's birthday doodle goes back in time, featuring its earlier days nostalgic logo. The doodle has appeared in several countries like India, Canada, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Finland, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and Japan, among others.

The birthday doodle is a simple "Google" logo in 3D-style with bold red, green, blue, and yellow colors. They have a blocky, inflated appearance, with red/black shading underneath that gives them a rough 3D extrusion.

Google, which is currently the largest search engine in the world, was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. This was also the year when the very first Doodle was publishe as a quick way for Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to let people know they would be out of office for Burning Man.

The search engine soon proved successful, and the expanding company moved several times, finally settling at Mountain View in 2003. This marked a phase of rapid growth, with the company making its initial public offering in 2004 and quickly becoming one of the world's largest media companies. The company launched Google News in 2002, Gmail in 2004, Google Maps in 2005, Google Chrome in 2008, and the social network known as Google+ in 2011 (which was shut down in April 2019), in addition to many other products. The company set up a charitable offshoot, Google.org, in 2005. In 2015, Google became the main subsidiary of the holding company Alphabet Inc, as per Wikipedia.
