Government Employees Of These States To Benefit From Massive Salary Hike

As the states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are gearing to implement the 6th Pay Commission, seven lakh government employees of the two states are set to benefit.

The decision has been taken by the congress led government of Punjab and under the new pay scale they will be getting huge amounts. It is to be noted that policies followed in Punjab are also followed by the
state of Himachal Pradesh.

The 6th pay commission report is yet to be released in Punjab and based on that the salary increase shall be implemented. Under the new pension scheme, the retirement and gratuity of employees who have retired between 2003 and 2017 have been increased. . With this measure, the government will give the benefit of about Rs 110 crore to the employees.

Also, as part of the new pension scheme, the state government has decided to increase the state's share of basic salary, dearness allowance and NPA from 10 percent to 14 percent. The move is expected to benefit 3.25 lakh government employees and more than 3 lakh pensioners in Punjab, while in the state of HP as many as 2.5 lakh government employees shall benefit.
