Govt Puts On Hold Hike In Dearness Allowance For Its Employees And Pensioners

On April 21, 2020, due to the current stress on the government's finances, the hike in DA for its employees has been put on hold. And today it will take up further call on deferring any further hike for the current year.

In March, government has revised an hike in DA by 4% to 21%.

The move is expected to impact as many as 49.26lakh central government employees and 61.17 lakh pensioners.

In a bid to cope up with increasing inflation, DA is raised twice a year and the next round of revision is due in July.

Other steps taken were cut in salaries of PM, president and other parliamentarians and deferment of the MPLADs scheme for 2 years which will mean a saving of Rs. 8000 crore for the government and help in fighting with the pandemic.
