Great American State Fair: Donald Trump to open America 250 event on Washington’s National Mall

Organisers say President Donald Trump will open the Great American State Fair on Washington’s National Mall as part of America 250 celebrations. The group Freedom 250 confirmed his appearance after some musical guests withdrew. The fair is scheduled to run from 25 June to 10 July with exhibits, family activities, performances, and flyovers.

President Donald Trump was set to headline The Great American State Fair after several music acts withdrew over the event’s links to Trump. Organisers said on Saturday that Trump would open the celebration tied to America’s 250th anniversary. The fair was planned for Washington’s National Mall and was promoted as a wide public event.

Great American State Fair: Trump to open

Trump addressed the pullouts on Saturday in a post on Truth Social. "I understand Artists are getting the yips having to do with their performance,\" Trump wrote. Trump then added: \"he was thinking of bringing the man who some say is the Greatest President in History THE GOAT!, DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate Artists.\"

Freedom 250, the group arranging the June fair, confirmed the plan in a statement. The group wrote, \"we are excited to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration.\" A spokesperson, Danielle Alvarez, said the larger fair was expected to offer exhibits, family friendly attractions, musical performances, flyovers and more.

Trump’s post referred to the event as being Wednesday on two occasions. However, the fair was scheduled to begin on June 25. It was set to run through July 10. The White House did not immediately explain the difference between the post and the published start date.

Great American State Fair artist changes and political concerns

Several performers exited last week, including Bret Michaels, the Commodores and Martina McBride. Michaels and other artists said they felt misled about the shows’ theme. Some also said they did not want involvement in a political dispute. Despite the departures, other acts still planned to appear.

Artists still listed included Flo Rida, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice. Vanilla Ice’s representative earlier said the rapper was proud to help mark the anniversary. Freedom 250 described itself as nonpartisan. Yet it was launched last year by Trump and led by a former State Department appointee from Trump’s first term.

The schedule shift and performer changes kept attention on how the fair was presented. Organisers continued to point to the full programme running from June 25 to July 10. Trump remained listed to start the festivities, while the White House gave no immediate details about the date confusion.
