Greater Noida Approves Plans for New Convention Centre, Cargo Terminal

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has taken significant steps towards enhancing the infrastructure and services in the region. In a recent board meeting led by Uttar Pradesh's Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, Manoj Kumar Singh, with GNIDA's CEO N G Ravi Kumar and Noida Authority's CEO Lokesh M in attendance, several pivotal proposals were approved. These initiatives are set to bolster Greater Noida's position as a key player on the international stage.

New Convention Centre, Cargo Hub for Greater Noida

Among the major developments, the board has greenlit the construction of a new exhibition-convention centre and a cargo terminal. The proposed exhibition-convention centre is to be located on a 25-acre plot in Sector Chi of the city. This facility aims to complement the existing India Expo Mart in Knowledge Park, which currently stands as the sole venue for national and international events in Greater Noida.

The necessity for another venue has been underscored by Greater Noida's escalating prominence, which is expected to surge further with the operationalization of the Noida International Airport. This development is anticipated to attract more VIPs and international visitors to the area. The new centre will not only feature a hotel but also a vast garden, catering to the projected population growth, which is expected to hit 40 to 50 lakh by 2050.

Additionally, the board has approved the establishment of a cargo terminal near the inland container depot (ICD) in Dadri, covering approximately 260 acres as part of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. Positioned near Pali and Makoda villages, this terminal is poised to generate about 15,000 jobs, transforming the region into a crucial logistics hub within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Enhancements in Public Services

The board also focused on improving public services, including updates on the Gangajal project aimed at augmenting drinking water supply. Currently, 44 out of 58 residential sectors are benefiting from this project. The goal is to extend water supply to all sectors by year-end and commence expansion towards Greater Noida West, also known as Noida Extension.

In response to community needs, GNIDA has revised its pet registration policy. The updated policy eliminates registration fees and fines for unregistered pets. However, it mandates that pet owners use service lifts and designated feeding points within their residential complexes. These points are to be identified collaboratively by residents and their Apartments Owners Association (AOA).

Furthermore, a new policy concerning mobile tower installation has been introduced. Operators seeking to install towers must now apply for permission and provide both a bank guarantee and a structural stability certificate.

These initiatives reflect GNIDA's commitment to fostering a well-planned urban environment that caters to both current and future needs of its residents and businesses. With these developments, Greater Noida is set to enhance its infrastructure, public services, and overall livability, aligning with its vision of becoming a leading global city.
