Travel Time Between Faridabad, Greater Noida

To travel between the two locations, commuters are required to take indirect routes through Noida, including various Delhi stretches, Kalindi Kunj, or parts of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. These diversions increase both distance and congestion. The Manjhawali bridge will introduce the first direct road connection between the two cities across the river.

Manjhawali Bridge Update

After becoming operational, the new corridor is expected to ease pressure on overloaded roads that used to cause massive traffic jams and road congestion during peak hours, especially on weekdays.

According to a Financial Express report, a single crossing via the Manjhawali bridge will replace multiple interlinked highways and city roads, cutting delays caused by bottlenecks and diversions that now affect the Greater Noida-Faridabad route.

The bridge will be a four-lane link, and the design is intended to support regular office traffic as well as heavy vehicles. The bridge will directly connect Greater Noida and Faridabad, improving access for both industrial clusters and residential areas on either side of the Yamuna.

Manjhawali Bridge Proposal Dates Back To 1989

There was demand for the construction of a bridge between the two locations for since last four decades. The foundation stone for Manjhawali Bridge was laid in 1989 by then Union Minister Rajesh Pilot. However, construction progressed unevenly for years, leaving the project stuck despite steady growth in traffic around the National Capital Region.

The involvement of two state governments in the project added to the complexities. Haryana completed its side of the structure in 2014, but work in Uttar Pradesh lagged. Land acquisition on the Uttar Pradesh side emerged as the main hurdle. Certain key land parcels could not be secured in time, which kept the connecting road network incomplete and delayed the bridge's use.

Manjhawali Bridge Cost

The four-lane bridge between Greater Noida and Faridabad is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 66 crore. The new route will make travel beyond the direct Greater Noida-Faridabad stretch. The bridge will create an alternative route towards Gurugram through Faridabad, offering relief to travellers who currently depend on crowded corridors through Delhi and existing expressways in the region.

For daily commuters, the change is expected to be significant in terms of predictability and journey time. A long, circuitous drive needing several highways and major intersections should soon become a much shorter trip. The Manjhawali bridge is therefore set to play a central role in easing movement across this part of the National Capital Region.
