Gujarat Government Auctions 25 Major and 2,280 Minor Mineral Blocks to Promote Entrepreneurship
The Gujarat government has successfully auctioned 25 major and 2,280 minor mineral blocks. On Tuesday, Letters of Intent (LoI) were issued to eligible lease-holders to commemorate Entrepreneurship Day. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented these LoIs, recognising the role of entrepreneurs in Gujarat's development, according to a government release.

As part of the Vikas Saptah initiative, the state has granted mining leases for significant mineral blocks. Bharat Quarry workers received a 50-year lease for the Shepa Limestone and Marl Block and Varvada Limestone and Marl Block in Junagadh district. Additionally, Shri Jessa Ranmal Kandoriya was awarded a similar lease for the Varvada Limestone and Marl Mineral Block in Devbhumi Dwarka district.
Transparent Auctions and Ease of Doing Business
To promote industrial growth, Gujarat allocates leases through transparent auctions. This approach encourages industrialists to engage actively in the state's progress. The government has also introduced an application-based system under the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) initiative. This system facilitates quick lease grants for minor minerals on private land.
The EODB initiative led to amendments in the Minor Mineral Rules on October 12, 2022. These changes allow application-based lease allocation for up to four hectares of private land. This provision simplifies the process for private landowners seeking leases. So far, 188 applications have received prior approval for lease allocation.
Ashokkumar Amrutbhai Patel was granted a 50-year lease for Sabarkantha's Harsol Block-1. In Bhujs Nadapa region, Gokul Dangar obtained an LoI for a China Clay mineral quarry lease application. These allocations are part of the state's efforts to streamline processes and encourage participation in mineral development.
The government's initiatives aim to enhance transparency and efficiency in mineral block allocations. By fostering an environment conducive to business, Gujarat continues to attract entrepreneurs and investors. These efforts contribute significantly to the state's economic growth and development journey.
